Before you contract a dealer or detailer to work or your boat, be sure to ask them what products they use, how they will do the job and what warranty they offer. Unfortunately, many people in the business don’t keep up with the latest technologies and still clean pontoons the same way they clean fiberglass boats (splash with acid, buff with rubbing compounds, etc.). This can leave your pontoons etched, white, steaked or needing higher maintenance in the future.

Do some research first and make sure that you get the service and results you want before you sign the work order. Remember; if your pontoons are restored to factory finish and protected, it can add $5,000 to $20,000 to the value of your boat, if they’re steaky, etched and discolored, you can lose the same amount of value.
