After applying VS721, how soon after should it be wiped off?

Tim Brown asked:

When you apply VS721 to the bottom of boat, how soon after application should it be wiped off?

For your convenience, I’ve highlighted the hyperlinks. Click on the hyperlink to get more information about the selected product.

Hi Tim,

The time to wipe off the VS721 varies, depending on the thickness of the product you apply, the ambient temperature and humidity, etc.

Typically, within 5 to 20 minutes after the VS721 begins to haze is the time to wipe it off. Shorter time if hot and dry, longer if cool and humid.

The haze indicates that the VS721 is beginning to bond to the surface. If you remove it too soon, you’re removing some of the protection, if left too long then it becomes difficult to wipe off and remove. I suggest that you do a small test area of 6 inches by 24 inches or 6 by 30 and try wiping off the haze on 6 inch by 6 inch sections in 5 minute intervals until you find the ideal time, then you can proceed to do the rest of the hull in sections that will allow the ideal drying time for you to go back and wipe off the haze. You can always go over the test areas as there will not be any visible difference.

If you should allow the VS721 to dry too much and find that it’s hard to wipe off the haze, you can apply additional VS721 to those areas to soften up the dried haze and then wipe away those areas.
