Should I Sure Step my deck in the fall?

  Skipper

Jack Boylen asked:

I absolutely love your Sure Step deck polish. It has made the decks of my 6 year old fiberglass boat look new again and no slipping. I operate a charter boat and have to do the clean up every evening after a hard day of fishing. The decks are so easy to clean that it saves me a ton of work. I never want the decks to go back to the way they were before. When I winterize my boat do I need to put a fresh coat of Sure Step on the decks or is it OK to leave them until the spring.

For your convenience, I’ve highlighted the hyperlinks. Click on the hyperlink to get more information about the selected product.

If you want to protect your decks from UV damage, dirt penetration, staining and ice damage you should protect your decks with a coat of Sure Step before you tarp or shrink Wrap your boat.

Many boat owners are now using Sure Step on all deck surfaces, smooth as well as textured non-skid. It will seal the pores in the fiberglass and give you protection against chalking. UV will penetrate the tarp or shrink warp during the winter. Another benefit is that your boat will be much easier to clean in the spring so you will be able to launch earlier without all the hard work.

If your decks are clean and already have Sure Step on them, just wash the decks with Boat Clean Plus and re-apply the Sure Step the way you normally do. For those that have never used Sure Step, be sure to prep the decks with Boat Clean Plus and Boat Scrub.

You should also put one coat of Premium Boat Shine on the topsides (hull) to protect it and make spring re-commissioning much easier.

Thanks for your question
