How to brighten aluminum that is protected with Shark Hide

  Skipper

Dan Maus asked:

I have a 2007 Alumaweld boat that has been protected with Shark Hide. Can the Alumabrite be used with that and will it be successful? Should I remove the Shark Hide prior to using the Alumabrite?

Can I apply Shark Hide after using Alumabrite?

Answer:

For your convenience, I’ve highlighted the hyperlinks. Click on the hyperlink to get more information about the selected product.

You need to remove the Shark Hide before applying Alumabrite. You can apply Shark Hide again after brightening the aluminum with Alumabrite. For best results, clean the aluminum with a 1:4 solution of Boat Clean Plus and water after removing the Shark Hide and prior to brightening with Alumabrite. This will remove any contaminates left behind by the Shark Hide stripper so that you do not get streaks.
