How much Stainless Shield do I need to protect the Stainless Steel on my Boat from Rusting?

  Skipper

Dale W asked:

What is the coverage area rating for Stainless Shield coating (how much area does a gallon cover)?

Is pealing or overcoating a concern for this product?

Answer:

For your convenience, I’ve highlighted the hyperlinks. Click on the hyperlink to get more information about the selected product.

Stainless Shield®  1 Gallon Coverage is 2,000 sq. ft. /One coat. Two coats are required.

Peeling is not a concern, providing that the stainless steel is clean and passive. That’s why we strongly recommend cleaning and passivating the stainless steel with Quick Silver® before applying Stainless Shield®.

2 coats of Stainless Shield® are ideal. It can last up to 5 years. Additional coats are not required and can actually shorten the life of the Stainless Shield®.

Maintenance is keeping the protected stainless steel clean by washing with fresh water and Boat Clean Plus®.
