Can VS721 Be Used to Protect Outboards and Stern Drives?

  Skipper

Tim Brown asked:

I’ve read bottom coatings may not be used on outboards or stern drives. Is this true for VS721?

Answer:

For your convenience, I’ve highlighted the hyperlinks. Click on the hyperlink to get more information about the selected product.

VS721 can safely be used on outboards and sterndrives and has been proven to reduce fouling on propellers. Since VS721 does not contain any heavy metal biocides, it will not cause galvanic corrosion or pitting of the aluminum casting or steel inner shafts and gears. It will also not cause corrosion damage to surrounding metallic surfaces.

VS721 can also be used on trim tables, transducers and brackets, through hulls, all running gear and on the hull itself (providing that the hull is bare and is not painted with anti-fouling paint. VS721 can not be used over anti-fouling paint).

Thanks for your question,
